"In this world only winter is certain..."

Dec 01, 2015 13:12

It has been so cold here!!! My grass is frozen stiff by 5pm!  Granted, it thaws out the next day by 10 or so for a few hours.. but still, damn it is cold. I am so glad I have a garage and don't have to scrape my windshield every morning!  The house is not well insulated and we cannot afford to fix that yet.  Good thing I got the new windows earlier this year, because it certainly helps.  But I really need to get under the house insulated ($2500!) and the attic redone too, which is another 2k.
If I can just keep this extra Macy's job until at least March, to get me paid off on some cards, then hopefully I can get the insulation done by summer and have an easier winter next year.

Speaking of Macy's, it's pretty easy work.  I did 28 hours last week.  I work in the warehouse, which is nice, because I don't have to deal with customers. On Sunday we did online order fullfillment all day, and it was so busy that 5 hours felt like 10 minutes.  Most of all , I loooove my discount!!! I shopped black friday there, and got killer deals, but then on top of those deals I get 20% of everything I buy, which is awesome!  Then they had a yearly fragrance sale for employees only. 40% off fragrences on top of the sale prices.  So I got myself some more Ralph Lauren, got Ezzy a Calvin Klein sampler, and got Chris some Yves St Laurent, because I love that scent on him.
And on top of that I have bought myself everything I've been forbidding myself to splurge on all year.  A new coat, 3 new pairs of boots, 4 pairs of Levi's, sweaters, and 4 new sets of PJs (all cotton, which is suprisingly hard to find, nowadays everything is polyester/rayon).
Also I am almost completely done Christmas shopping.  Got my mom, Ezzy, Chris, Lani, all done.  Now I just need to get something for my sister and I'll officially be done.

Took out all the christmas stuff from the garage today, so when Ezzy gets home we can decorate the house, bling it all out in Christmas gear.
I just need to buy a fake tree, but shit those things are expensive!  I have decided not to buy real trees anymore.  Ever.  Although they are beautiful, I cannot shake the fact that is just seems incredibly cruel, to murder a beautiful healthy tree, just so we can enjoy it for 3 weeks, as it slowly decays and dies right before our eyes.  Why do I want to be a part of such a dispicable act?  I just can't.  Nature is precious, life is precious, and I am tired of pretending my life is so much greater than the nature around me, when it simply is not.

Thanskgiving was nice.  My mom and her boyfriend came over for dinner.  We had a good meal and good talks,  Wonderful dessert!  I had made pumpkin apple bread from the pumpkins we grew ourselves and apples we picked ourselves.  Also made apple pie from the local apples we just picked a couple months ago.  How much different food tastes when it is local and fresh!  And how much better a homemade apple pie is than store bought.  There is seriously no comparision.

I finished the Jewel book and am now on to Lord of the Rings book 1 on audible.  On Hardback, I am on a horror story, The Deep, which is seriously creepy!  Well written, but scary! I like it.  Also on a satire called China Rich Girlfriend, which is funny, it is not the type of book I usually read, which is why it appeals to me.  I find I can fly through books when I just don't watch TV.  I still watch the Daily Show and Colbert from the dvr here and there, but most days I don't even feel like glancing at the TV... expect for Mondays that is.  Mondays is my Love & Hip Hop and Vanderpump Rules day, the only 2 trashy shows I am hooked on.

Anyhow, I better get going.  Got lots to do today!

holidays, books
