My letter to the President..

(sent today via email)

President Obama,
I do not write these letters often.  There is rarely an issue that disturbs me enough to feel compelled to try to reach out to the most unreachable man in the country.
But here I am, typing away hoping it makes a fraction of a fraction's difference somehow.

I understand the weight of your position is not easy and you are constantly being pulled a thousand different ways, and there is probably a significant legitimate reason why you have not yet decided on the Keystone Pipeline.  I am writing to urge you to please outright reject it.
The health of our planet, the future of our great grandchildren, your lasting legacy- are all at stake here.
Please, however you may consider the other side of this issue, realize that there is no way to do this without disaster, and at this point, with all the scientific data available, it should not even be a viable option.

I will end here.. I will also end by noting I am extremely disappointed in your natural gas/fracking policies and their total lack of regulation and accountability.  I have been a lifelong Democrat.  Have been voting in every election since I was legally able to.  But these reckless policies that poison our air, water and planet are questioning my faith in the party.  I hope you find the courage to fight back against big oil, big money, and the dirty political maneuvers that so often win the day, and instead with all politics aside, just do the right thing.
