I'm sorry, but it has to be said.

As you may or may not know, I am an avid fan of the BBC show, Merlin. In fact, I may even classify as a ‘fan girl’ to some of you, but I’m not here to discuss my ranking in the fan system. Today, I am in fact here to discuss what the hell the writers and such people are doing to the show.

There have been a few things throughout series 1-4.9/13 that have jumped out at me, but you know, they were small; I could ignore them. That is probably why you have all been spared my ranting and moaning until now.

Last episode, ‘Lancelot Du Lac’ has officially pushed me over the edge. Obviously, I don’t know what the writers and directors have planned, and we know that sometimes in Merlin, those who appear to be dead are in fact not, but I honestly don’t know how they are going to get themselves out of this one. They have killed Lancelot. Sorry, did you not get that? THEY HAVE KILLED LANCELOT. I know that this show is only loosely based on the original legends, but come on, Lancelot?!?!?! He is a vital part in the story and quite frankly, I refuse to believe that they have just killed him off.

But that is not the only thing that has really irked me with this show. I think the main thing that has genuinely hurt me is the whole Arthur/ Guinevere relationship. I believe that at the start, it had the potential to be something beautiful, but oh no! Series 1, they barely acknowledge each other, in fact, I would go as far to say that they were strangers. She was the maid to Morgana and friend of his manservant, and yes, they exchanged words, but there was absolutely no chemistry there. Then we dive into series 2, and BAM, episode 2, they’re in love and I just... there are no words. There was no build up, nothing; there was nothing they were just in love! I know that there will be some people out there who will be shaking their heads at me and lighting the torches in a form of protest, but I just can’t get my head around that relationship. Series 3, they were a bit more lovey dovey, but series 4, they’re getting married?! I just don’t understand. I don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me and I truly believe that they ruined every bit of potential for that love story.

The second thing that really frustrated me is what they’ve done to Morgana. She was such a good character and I do think that Katie McGrath plays the evil Morgana beautifully, but come on. She was so good, she was so loyal to her friends and family, and that just got turned around in half a series. At the end of series 2, she was still so loyal, but then series 3... I think that’s pretty much when they ruined her. She was such a strong character, but they just turned her so cold and heartless and btjrwtkbvitprbuptri.

Then there’s Uther; oh God, don’t get me started on poor Uther. The acting in that episode was absolutely spectacular, all the awards go to Bradley James, but I just don’t understand why they would kill him off so soon! It was so, so unexpected and I honestly thought that everything would be okay until the credits rolled and he was still dead. I think my heart broke a tiny bit. But... i just don’t think that was the right time for him to go. I really don’t.

I will probably have to come back to this, but I had to get some of that off my chest. I still love the show, but there are just some things that need to be ranted about.
