sticky post: info and fic index

Jun 04, 2020 21:09

I am pretty much only using my DW during National Poetry Month, these days, and am better found at tumblr, twitter, and AO3.

Welcome! This is my primary journal, although I cross-post to olivia_circe (with an underscore) at LJ. Please feel free to subscribe or unsubscribe at will. The majority of my content is locked, and I am fairly circumspect about access-granting, so please introduce yourself if you would like access. Please do not connect my offline identity and my online identity in any written space, especially online. That includes at my journal; if you know my real name, please do not use it here. If you have any questions, or just want to say hello, comment here at any time!

If you would like to create a transformative work of any of my stories (art, podfic, translation, or remixes of any other kind), please do so! BLANKET PERMISSION IS GRANTED. I would appreciate it if you notified me, however, primarily so that I can get excited about it and link to the thing that you have made.

I can be reached by email at o.circe [at] gmail [dot] com, and can also be found at
oliviacirce,
oliviacirce, and
oliviacirce.

Facts

Twenty-something graduate student, frequently lost under large piles of books. Enjoys libraries, bookstores, keeping books in strange places, and reading in the park. Queer, poly, kinky, fat, white, Jewish, cis-gendered, female. Went to a women's college. Second-generation fan. Liberal-minded intellectual. Much more introverted than she immediately appears. Itchy and pug-willed, gnarled and wrong-headed. Raised in the Midwest but unabashedly a New Yorker. Prefers life with a soundtrack. Loves thunderstorms, poetry, old manuscripts, baking cakes, dry humor, glittery eye makeup, and the Internet. Deeply committed to transformative works. Thinks "What Would Miles Vorkosigan Do?" is a valid lifestyle choice. Believes in equality, honesty, education, art, community, love, change, and resisting entropy.

Fandoms

Extremely polyfannish. Can be (easily) persuaded to read almost anything. Immediately turned off by stilted dialogue, bad grammar, and excessive internal monologue. Past and present fandoms include but are by no means limited to: Bandom: Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic(!) at the Disco, The Hush Sound, Cobra Starship, etc.; Comics and Comic Book Movies: DC, Marvel, Vertigo, Avengers, X-Men, Batman, Superman, Sandman, etc.; Alias, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, the Buffyverse, Castle, Community, the Dark is Rising, Doctor Who, due South, Firefly, Generation Kill, Harry Potter, Highlander, Leverage, Lord of the Rings, Merlin, The Middleman, Narnia, Pushing Daisies, Sherlock Holmes, Slings & Arrows, Smallville, Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek, Treme, True Blood, Twin Peaks, Veronica Mars, the Vorkosigan books, The West Wing, White Collar, The Wire; dance movies, musicals, historical dramas, classic and classical literature, renaissance drama, lots and lots of kids' books, lots and lots of genre fiction, most things by Diane Duane, most things by Diana Wynne Jones, Wodehouse, Stoppard, Shakespeare. Likes slash, femslash, threesomes, het, gen, interesting power dynamics, enemies-turned-lovers/lovers-turned-enemies, found families, and long stories with lots of plot.

Features

April is National Poetry Month in the US, and I celebrate -- and have since, wow, 2007, crazy -- by posting a poem every day (or so; I am sometimes inconsistent). Poems are tagged the cruelest month, and usually locked. Poems are not by me, and I make no profit from posting them; that said, I also do not have permissions, so, as always, please be respectful. Eventually I will get around to making a poetry index.

Sometimes I post dialogues, the most frequent (and apparently infamous) of which are olivia's parents theater. Olivia's Parents Theater is usually locked, and sometimes contains personal information about my family. My family is hilarious, so please enjoy! Please also be respectful and considerate.

Fic Index

Everything here is fiction, written for fun and not for profit. None of the source material belongs to me, and no disrespect is intended. Most of the main links on this page go to the AO3, but where the story was initially published elsewhere, I have included additional links.
