[the Doctor has let Oliver into level 15 so he can explore, which he fully intends to do quite thoroughly, but he has one specific place he wants to try before anything else

[it takes almost twenty minutes, considering he has to go from the dome to the shopping level, but he doesn't complain. he greets Oliver and goes straight to the wall. after a few quick taps of his finger, a blue line appears, quickly outlining the panel.
he checks it, expression intense, and for a moment looks as though he's found something, then frowns, brows furrowing] No, not this one. It's definitely unusual, and shouldn't be here, but it has transporter controls only and it looks like they're locked to the captain's signature. He might have rigged this himself.
Not yet. I'm surprised by some of these locations all of you have found, but they are turning up unexpected things, even if they're not the specific thing we're looking for. This whole ship must be wired with extra machinery, more even than what I found.
You know, I'm not sure whether that's good or bad at this point...
Mind checking a few more things while we're here? The observation decks could be a good place to look. Well, the stern one, really--the captain was there when he decided to test...whatever it was.
[looks at him a bit more critically] Do you need a hand?
[steps up beside him] Lean on me, then. Let's start with the stern observation deck! [leads Orion along past the shops, listening for the device to go off as they walk. when they reach their destination, sure enough, the detector starts to beep] Well, there must be something in here!
[concentrates mainly on walking straight and upright, though he can't help glancing around at the abandoned shops, lips pressed into a thin, hard line. once they're there and the scanner goes off, he starts at the walls, hands moving slowly] ...this may take a little time.
Alright, I'll start there. [kneels down, checking the floor first, frowning when he doesn't find anything. pausing a moment for thought, he gets to his feet and checks the transparent barrier between them and space. after a second, a bright blue line appears on the material, framing another panel. he quickly inputs a series of numbers and--
gets another dull chime in response. he actually curses softly this time] No. I thought it might be, but...no.

[the set to his jaw says he doesn't want to admit it, but he ends up nodding curtly]
