[Oliver can be seen standing just outside the holo-suite, leaning against a wall to keep more of his weight off the knee that's still in a brace. he's grinning widely] Doctor! Would you believe it, it was outside the holo-suite this time! And ohhh, everybody, you're gonna want to see this. [fiddles with his sphere for a moment before it ( Read more... )

[he makes a face after he's viewed that. he was just making his rounds in the main bay when Ollie's transmission started] More trustworthy? The whole matter's suspicious; it just shows Orion knew something was going on.

Well, he was trying to do something about it, too!

At that point in time, yes. But he was just playing the good little soldier and reporting things through proper channels. And obviously, those proper channels couldn't care less. Besides, we're nowhere near the Sol System, not even in the right section of the universe! [or so he maintains, not recognising any part of it, much to his annoyance.] I'm far more interested in that oversight Ganymede supposedly made.

Didn't he just mean the fact that the captain was ignoring all the suspicious bits?

There were those as well, Oliver, but it sounded like there was something more. Whatever that 'something vital' bit meant, we won't know. That's the trouble with eavesdropping.

See, but I thought that's what it did mean, only Orion doesn't know what it's all for--not at this point.

He had to have known enough to take issue with it. I doubt they'd let any old idiot leave this Academy of theirs without some inkling of how things are run and constructed.

So he knew there were more defenses and all, but what for?

Hmm, good question. Very good question--and I wish I knew the answer.

Yeah, we all do.

What else could you work out from that, Doctor? We already knew Ganymede was upset that Orion was going to be promoted, but there has to be more in this conversation. [he hopes so, anyway. he hasn't thought of anything else]

[he doesn't answer immediately] Well, Orion's uniform and that star symbol only prove that the pair we saw the other day do belong to the military. And I'm betting from the colour system alone that they were superior officers compared to him.

Wait, the two geologist people rank higher than Orion, you mean?

That's what I said, weren't you listening? [makes a face and sighs] Our so-called xeno-geologists wore white. Neither Ganymede or Orion have worn white before--and Orion was in grey there. It is, mind you, just a theory and unfortunately, that's all I've got to go from with the bits of information we're given.

Although...they could be from a separate branch within the military organisation itself--but of what sort?

[yes, but his brain is still having moments that lack clarity] Maybe something to do with science? I think the best bet we've got for those two is they must've been part of some sort of time research. Don't you think? How else could we accidentally end up in a time loop?

Undoubtedly. You don't just walk into any old temporal anomaly, well, I have, but I'm different.

So maybe they were experimenting with something time-related for the military? Then why use a civilian ship for the experiment?
