[Oliver is sitting on his bed, still in his orange jumpsuit, and looking rather disoriented--but cheerful]

Well, that was fun. [puts a hand to his head, blinking as if to clear it] Um...out of curiosity, how long has it been? I don't quite remember... [trails off thoughtfully] ...I'm not sure what, actually. But I feel like this wasn't ( Read more... )

If my own internal chronometer is correct-- barely any time at all passed from our presence there to our arrival here.

You mean between things ending on Eos and starting again here?

Okay then. I'm actually betting we technically arrived here before things ended there, but that'd be opening a whole different can of worms...

Mmmm. Not a bad theory-- after all, if we had truly died there, there would be no way to bring people back-- and if it were just some sort of anomaly with our perceptions or time itself, those who had 'died' wouldn't remember their 'deaths'.

So before this gets all existential, mind if I ask your name? I'm Oliver.

Nice to meet you! Have you been here long? In the generally chronological sense, anyway--not the messed up "we've gone back in time" sort of sense.

I was on the planet for a number of weeks, though I mostly kept to myself. I found it rather-- distasteful. This environment is much more to my liking. [At this point I am going to say the sphere was zoomed in, and now it is zoomed out and OH LOOK HE'S SITLL NAKED because he refuses to wear the orange jumpsuit.]

[eyes widen--look, a naked man! stealthily focuses his attention on...something else in the room. off the sphere. trying to control his o.O expression. after all, he knows nothing about where this guy is from...]

So uh...got any questions about how the ship works that I could help you with?

[Regene is just boycotting clothing until something less hideous is provided. |(]

Yes, actually. What degree of control do we have over the ship, outside from essential programming? Do the passengers have any access to the essential programming, the engine room-- the bridge?

oliverplus March 28 2009, 19:23:58 UTC
Oh, that's easy. No control at all, and no, we don't have access to the bridge of any of that. Although we did, once. Briefly. Before we wound up back like this the first time.

Not very hospitable of a cruise ship, not allowing its passengers to customize things to their preferences. Just what can we access, then?

Mmmmm. And did you find anything useful while they were open?

Well, you can have your sphere bring up a map, if you want. There are shops, a hospital, a library, the Enviro-dome, an observation deck...

[frowns] All we know is something was happening that we couldn't stop. And that the captain was dead. But he's always dead--except when he's on the sphere and he's not.
