It has been many a long month since my last post of any substantive nature. So, what have I been up to in that time?
At work I'm currently a Project Officer, working on the Duties Act 2008 Implementation Project. "What's that about?" I hear you say, well, it's the replacement of the Stamp Act 1921, which is used to levy Stamp Duty. Given that the world has seen some changes in commercial practice since 1921, the whole thing is being rewritten to be more up to date and consistent. My role in the project is updating all the forms, fact sheets, web information, and other publications as required (and generally assisting in other areas such as updates to our database systems). It's more interesting than the stuff I was doing before, although it has its frustrating moments just like anything else.
Still volunteering at Scitech, I'm still not allowed to ride the Segway around (I've done the theory stuff, but need time to actually get my licence), but a few weeks ago I did get to take out the hovercar. I'm still enjoying it, although on quiet days it can be a little boring, but overall I feel very glad that I'm doing it (plus I get to meet insane people who work there).
Summer comp at basketball has finished (thankfully), being in the wrong division to start with and then losing our best player to a long term ankle injury meant that 40-60 point losses were the norm. It sucked. We still haven't won a game over winter (currently 0-3), but at least we are being competitive, which is vastly preferable. I have once again taken it upon myself to organise virtually everything for the season. If I whine about it, ignore me, I don't actually mind (most of the time anyway).
I have a nephew. I posted a photo a while back, but it doesn't seem to show up on people's friends pages for some reason. Anyway, if you want to see me holding a baby,

I've been playing bridge again recently, with Suz (my old partner) back in Perth after 3-4 years in Canberra. Two club sessions, we managed first place in both of them. Not that the field was very strong on either day, but things did come back to me pretty well. There goes Wednesday night....
Still playing indoor soccer, we still don't win a lot of matches. On the other hand we did win last night, which was nice.
Took the day off work today, with a day-in-lieu. Still have more leave than I know what to do with (seriously, if you have ideas let me know). Due to project I won't be able to take much before 1 July, but I will then have around 2 months to take in the second half of the year.
Haven't gone walking in ages, still want to. (This may relate to previous point)
Am making an effort to eat more fresh fruit and veg, and less processed stuff (also cutting down on carbs a bit). Artichokes are awesome. I have also started making risotto in my rice-cooker. Nom nom nom risotto.
Congrats to both recently married couples who I was privileged to witness.
Time for me to make dinner.
