Something just happened that I need to quickly jot down so I don't forget the vulgar hilarity of it. One of our "last chance" school sites just called to check transportation for one of their students. It's ready to start tomorrow, and the teacher handed the phone to the student so I could relay the times to him.
After telling the student that he was to be ready by 6:30, he interrupted me and said, "I dunno man, 6:30? I gotta shower and dres nice, I gotta look presidential and shit."
I quickly hung up the phone and died laughing; a sorrowful mirthless laugh. The same people wearing the gold patina Obama '08 t-shirts in size 3x, are the same ones that would say something so pedestrian as "workin on mah fitness", are the same ones that would take Obama's election into office and turn him into a trailer park mascot, taking something high and presidential and dragging it to the gutter, rather than raising themselves up to his levels of acheivement.
