2013 Biking

I knew it was coming up, but I'm now officially 13 weeks out from the Tour de Cure. The Tour de Cure is a fundraising event for the American Diabetes Association. I've been riding with them for the past 3 years. Every year has been a challenge so far. We started off with the 30 mile route (from not riding at all). The second year my husband and friend did the 62 mile route, but since I was pregnant, I only rode 10. Last year, we all did a 30 mile route again and were only partially successful. Andrew is in the best shape and he fared pretty well. I definitely had a touch of heat exhaustion. Ryan had trouble pretty early in the ride too. So we all wanted to be so much better this year. I convinced the two of them to sign up for the 75 mile route. I've found two different training plans that will get us to that distance, and they are both 12 weeks long. So it's time to get started!

Luckily I was scheduled to do intervals with my New Rules of Lifting for Women workout last night. So I am counting my 5 HIIT as my 20 minute steady pace ride. Eh, close enough. I can't wait for April because that's when we can really take Ellie out in the bike trailer and start to train for the much longer rides.

By the way, here's a link to my fundraising page: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/A1NNJ-NorthernNewJerseyArea?px=5791002&pg=personal&fr_id=8611
