A word of advice: If you need to buy toilet paper, don't ever do it right before you go out for dinner and drinks.
This is something I learned the hard way on Friday night. I was up in Lincoln Park and didn't feel like walking all the way over to the nearest Citibank because I would have wasted too much time going all the way there and then back up to where I needed to be. So I went to Dominick's instead, thinking that I would just buy something cheap and get cash back from my purchase. I couldn't think of anything I really needed other than toilet paper, so I got some. Only I didn't stop at just one roll --- nope, I bought three. It wasn't too much of a problem at the restaurant because I was able to stash the bag underneath the table, but then afterwards, we all went over to Sidetrack, where I experienced one of my most embarrassing (but hilarious!) encounters of the summer so far. As I was walking through the main entryway, one of the bouncers stopped me and said that I needed to check my bag. I said sure and offered him my small shoulder bag, only to have him reply to me, "Umm, no... I meant the other one."
Awkward!
Never before have I had to check three rolls of toilet paper at a bar, and believe me, never again will I have to. From now on, I'm only buying that stuff here in Hyde Park.
All TP aside, things have been going well for me. I actually got a call today from my recruiter saying that she had spoken with a couple of the people in the office where I briefly worked last week. Apparently, they were so impressed with me that they want me to come back again --- only this time, it'll be for a temp-to-hire position!
It feels weird to say this because it hasn't fully hit me yet, but I have a job now. Wow.
I'll be making enough money to live comfortably here in Chicago but still be able to save up enough funds to move back to New York in a couple of years. ما شاء ألله
