Last night we all went downtown to see The Dark Knight, and it was so good. I'd been waiting to see this movie for over a year now, and it completely surpassed all of my expectations. Wow... just wow. What made it even better was being able to recognize a lot of the places where they had filmed the movie here in Chicago. For instance, they painted an extra line onto some of the city buses to transform them from the CTA into the "GTA" (hah!), and there was even a chase scene that took place in the Randolph Street Metra station! Beth and I both went wild as soon as we saw that.
I got back home just before 2 AM and was fully intent on sleeping in, but those plans were ruined sometime around 8 when a telemarketer called and the answering machine woke me up. Then I was even more confused because it didn't quite seem like morning due to all the rain and dark clouds outside. Anyway, I'm more or less awake now, and I have another long day ahead of me. I have to go to the bank, but the closest branch that's open on Saturdays is all the way up in Lincoln Park. Then later tonight, I'm going to see
Songs for a New World with Bob and some of his residents at the Theater on the Lake. That's also in Lincoln Park, so perhaps I'll just hang out up there all day. I have a sudden craving for Panera, so if I can find one of their restaurants up there, I'll be set.
Oh! And my endless days of watching Maury and Oprah have come to an end, at least for the time being. I have a temporary gig starting on Monday! It's only going to last for two or three weeks, but it's work, and it'll give me the routine that I've been desperately needing and missing ever since school ended. My recruiter told me that it could possibly be extended after the first few weeks are up, which will be good to have until I manage to secure a more permanent job. There's actually a really interesting one that I found a couple of days ago, so one of the main things I need to do today is finish revising my cover letter and submit my application.
Alright, I'll end this entry here since I need to get out of bed and get going soon. The bank closes at 1, and for some reason, rain always makes commuting seem so much longer than it actually is.
