The past few weeks of being back in Oberlin, and it has only been a little over three weeks, has been full of me not wanting to be here, feeling pretty much tuned out to school, angry at my supposed closest friend here, and feeling somewhat alienated from the place in general. But for some reason, right now, things are feeling pretty good, and so I thought I would make a nice little list of the good things about right now, because seeing them in one place feels like some sort of progress in my life. So, here goes:
In no particular order:
reading Emma Goldman's Living My Life
planning this summer, being in Seattle with Brittany
Brittany coming here in about ten days to stay for a week
reading an article about Eminem for class
getting infuriated at that article
having people who are equally infuriated about it to get angry with
buying the new Vanity Fair that is all about film noir which is maybe my favorite filmm genre
remembering that we are watching the beginning of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle tomorrow in class
the fact that I am taking a Pop Culture class and doing my group research project on Trekkies as a subversive counterculture
learning about dinosaurs in Headlines from the History of Life class next week
Noam buying three feet of "kitty and doggie" tattoos that came in a blue plastic egg from CVS and now I have a weiner dog tattoo on my wrist
So there are some good things. Now, I should be reading, because that's what I do.
harold and kumar,
dinosaurs,
emma goldman
