Our week started off with a big bang - with a day trip to
LEGOLAND Malaysia!
It was my first time bringing Sean and Ryan (who, err, missed school) into Malaysia via a coach on my own. The transfers at the checkpoint were a bit stressful - coz I had to corral the boys and carry the stroller and all our bags on my own - but the boys were very cooperative and well-behaved, and we had a really lovely day together :)
The weather was slightly overcast and there was hardly a crowd at LEGOLAND so that made our visit very unharried and relaxing.
The boys got to do all their favourite rides. They drove motorised cars at the Junior Driving School, commandeered planes at LEGO City Airport and we worked together to put out a building on fire at the Rescue Academy which is always good fun (but *pant* *pant* really hard work when you are the only adult with them!).
We took a ride and shot baddies with our laser guns at The Lost Kingdom. The boys rode the Duplo Express and I could finally take a breather and let them loose at the Imagination playground.
For lunch, we grabbed a quick bite at Pizza Mania. It was our first time eating at this restaurant - the pizzas and seafood pasta were very good! The boys were so famished they wolfed down everything!

Then came the real reason why we were at LEGOLAND - we were there to witness the launch of the first ever LEGO Ninjago Live Show
'Ninjago and The Realm of Shadows' at the LEGO City Stage.
The boys are huge Ninjago fans so they were besides themselves with excitement!
Inspired by the popular TV series 'Ninjago - Masters of Spinjitsu', the 20-minute show was scripted by award-winning Hollywood movie writers Kevin and Dan Hageman and features six specially hand-crafted Ninjago puppets, each standing at approximately 1.2m in height. The entire production makes use of video mapping and illustrations to bring the set to life.
As the story goes, the Ninjas - Kai, Nya, Zane, Cole, Jay and Lloyd - are on a mission to protect Bandit, a YinYang Dragon, who will one day grow up to be a powerful Light Dragon.
The audience and the Ninjas must work together to protect Ninjago from the evil Clouse and his Shadow Minions who want to steal Bandit and plunge Ninjago into the Realm of Shadows.

Not surprisingly, the boys sat enraptured watching their favourite Ninjago warriors battle and overcome the forces of evil with teamwork and wit.
I was extremely taken by the ingenious use of technology and traditional Japanese Banraku style puppetry - I certainly have never seen anything like that before on such a grand scale!
BRAVO, what a brilliant show! We did a little interview for LEGOLAND Malaysia after the show - hopefully I will be able to share the link soon!
After the show, we went for one final loop of LEGOLAND.
The boys rode horses at Royal Joust and we checked out Miniland together and the boys spent some time exploring and admiring the new-to-us LEGO Chima Miniland.
Finally, the boys spent some time at Build+Test building cars and racing them with other children before we boarded the coach again.
Thanks again, LEGOLAND, for an awesome time. We will be back for sure!
Ninjago and The Realm of Shadows opens to the public at LEGOLAND Malaysia this weekend (28 August 15) at LEGO City Stage and will be shown daily. From August 28 to September 30, kids from 2 to 12 years of age will get 50% off entrance fees* (conditions apply), with any paying adult, if they are decked out in a Ninja outfit.
With the September holidays around the corner (and not forgetting the favourable SGD-MYR exchange rate now), there's really no better time to visit!
