Super six (Sean's birthday celebration in school)

Sean turned 6 last week. The birthdays of my firstborn are always a bit special because they remind me how long I have been a mother. And what a journey it has been!

We had a small celebration for Sean in school a day before his birthday. He woke up super happy - because he has been counting down to the day since err, his last birthday.

He wore a cool number '6' tee from Le Petit Society. Ryan and Jo have matching tees too :)

In place of a birthday cake, I got mini chocolate cupcakes (from The Fresh Bread Shop at Shunfu Market) and made fruit skewers for his teachers and classmates. The husband and I made some superhero cupcake toppers and a simple bunting for the cupcakes the night before and blew up some helium balloons before we left the house in the morning.

We swung by during Sean's break and the kids were happy to see the balloons and cupcakes. We snapped some pictures and the kids sang the birthday song for Sean (who was super shy). They loved the cupcakes and fruit, and many came back for more.

Later, Sean passed out goodie bags (containing notebooks, stationery and balloons) to his friends. It was quite simple and fuss-free, and everyone enjoyed it.

Can't believe this is going to be his last birthday celebration in kindergarten! Having all his previous teachers come up to him to chat and wish him happy birthday made the day even more bittersweet. (Thank God I still have 2 babies to see through kindergarten!)

We picked the boys up after school and brought them out for Jap lunch. Ideally, I would have loved to bring them somewhere special to celebrate but I still had a lot to do for Sean's party the next day!
