Happy birthday, honey!
Foops turned a year older recently and we celebrated his birthday with dinner at Fix Grill.
Started by the same people behind Cookyn Inc and GRUB, the halal-certified Fix Grill prides itself in serving char-grilled 'Original Handmade Goods'.
It was our first visit and the casual outdoor venue was perfect for our noisy family. It was quite a warm night out but the big fans made it breezy for us. With the grill going, it felt like we were enjoying a barbecue in someone's backyard!
We ordered heaps of food. The Sweet Potato and Feta appetizer drizzled with honey was deceivingly simple but oh so good. We also had the Hokkaido Scallops with Quinoa which I thought was just so-so, nothing spectacular.
Of course we couldn't eat there without trying their barbequed items: the assorted FIX Grill Platter of Skewers was very good value for money. It consisted of Greek Beef Keftedes skewers, Lamb Moussaka skewers, Chicken Tsukune Yakitori skewers, prawn cake and juicy mushroom skewers, all grilled to perfection and served with a delicious homemade pumpkin mash and potato crisps. I loved everything on it - I would order this as my main next time!
We also shared a Lobster Roll between. While the lobster chunks were succulent, the bread was quite dry and too oily from the butter. We love our lobster rolls so this was a bit of a let-down.
Every other table seemed to have ordered the grilled Whole Snapper with Lemon and Herbs and it looked damn good. Maybe next time!
The kids shared the vegetarian Primavera Pasta. The creamy pesto sauce was very flavorful - they slurped it up and asked for more. Not bad for kids who always declare they hate vegetables!
It was very apparent that the kitchen staff put a lot of heart into the dishes - everything was immaculately prepared right down to the mango and chilli salsa dips and homemade potato crisps.
The birthday boy (who has very exacting standards) had high praises for the food and place. We will be back!
