Ryan goes to school - Days 2 and 3
See how well Ryan did on his first day in school, I was a lot more ruthless on Day 2.
I told him adults were not allowed on the bus so he had to take the school bus by himself (okay, I bribed him with sweets too, whatever works). And he did just fine!
In school, things were a lot more chaotic than the first day because the children have cottoned on to the fact that their parents are going to leave them so there was a lot of wailing and crying.
Really have to take my hat off to all the teachers for their patience! I feel so flustered just looking at them, and they still have an afternoon session of crying and wailing to get through!
Ryan was fine initially. He ate his cornflakes during snack time and even remembered to zoom in straight for the coveted blue car during playground time.
I thought he would be alright so I caught up with him and told him I was leaving for work. He surprised me by bursting into tears and wailing like his life depended on it. His first tears since school started. Sigh.
I sat with him for a bit (because he clung to me and wouldn't let go). He calmed down quite quickly though and I made a quick exit after that. My FIL stayed on to watch him and he got home on the bus alright.
There were more tears this morning (Day 3) when he remembered I had to leave for work again. Gave him a little pep talk and he bounded back to join his teachers and classmates. Hmm, maybe it's my presence that unnerves him - I should just stay away from school!
Tomorrow, the kids will entirely be on their own (and Sean starts school finally). I have faith in my little Mr Steady. Think he will be alright :)
