La-la-la-la It's Ryan's second birthday!

We threw Ryan a little Elmo-themed birthday party over the weekend.

With Jordan making his appearance a week ago (their birthdays are just six days apart!), we decided to keep the celebrations simple with just our immediate families.

You know how much I love throwing parties for the kids. As small as the party was, I couldn't resist making it special for Ryan. After all, he is probably going to have to share all his future birthday celebrations with his little brother so this was his last chance to have his very own party :)

He loves Elmo from Sesame Street so Eh-mo (as he calls the red furry creature) it was!

The prep was simple and fuss-free. I made some party hats topped with furry poms for the boys. I drew an Elmo wearing a party hat on our chalkboard - Ry went 'WOW!' when he saw it (so cute). We had a bunch of red, orange and yellow polka-dotted helium balloons and Foops got a bubble machine which thrilled the boys to no end. I didn't like any of the store-bought (not to mention, exorbitantly-priced) Elmo cakes so we got an Awfully Choc fudge cake and decorated our own :)

We had a big, scrummy spread of dishes specially prepared by my mum. The only food item I contributed was mini madeleines for dessert - my picky boys loved them (even though Ry couldn't have too much as they contained a lot of eggs) ;)

We sang Ryan the birthday song and he cheerily blew out his two candles on his cake.

We ate while Sean and Ryan were happy playing by the pool, running around and chasing bubbles and Baby Jordan snoozed quietly in the stroller.

We adjourned home at the end of the party where Ryan blew out yet another cake and the boys discovered dry ice for the first time and played a simple game of 'Piece Elmo together' :)

Ryan looks so serious-faced in all the pics but he was actually in a very, very good mood and super squealy all day. He was bouncing all over the place and kept telling everyone it was his birthday and that he was two years old - he was truly the happiest two-year-old that day :)

(Sean was a bit jealous from all the attention showered on Ryan - we have some funny pouting pics of him - but he was gallant enough to stand back and let his brother have the limelight just for the day.)
