We have a kindergartener in our midst!

Sean started his first day of K1 today.

He has been looking forward to going back to school for weeks - I guess he was getting a bit bored of lazing around at home!

Compared to the blur sotong he was last year, he has grown in so many ways.

He tells everyone he is five years old in the new year and can tell us what month and day it is, as well as his new class and teacher's names.

He has given up his morning milk feed (it was torture asking him to finish just a small cup of milk) so now he has to get ready and wolf down a quick breakfast (usually bread) before the school bus picks him up at 740am. He has also been not been taking his afternoon nap for a while now so bedtime has been brought forward to 830pm.

Sean is an old dog at the school run now so nothing major to report there.

Ryan insisted on wearing new socks and shoes and carrying a bag to go to school just like Sean - he was super upset when the school bus left without him. Poor kid - he still has a year more to go before he can join Sean in school :(

At least he could follow us in the car to wait for Sean in school!

(Funny story: I was just thinking Ry seemed quite ready for school when I saw how eager he was in the morning. That was until he did a big poop in his pants. Maybe waiting another year to start school isn't such a bad idea after all!)

We accompanied Sean to meet his new teacher Miss J at his new classroom. His class is much bigger now (31 compared to 24 last year) and there are quite a number of familiar faces (both from N1 and N2) in his class. Such a pity his best friend Natasha is in the next class though.

He settled down very quickly chatting and laughing with his friends (and forgot all about us hanging around outside his classroom) :)

We parents were asked to leave - coz the K1 kids were doing quite alright on their own - so we did.

Sean came home in good spirits telling me the names of his friends (mostly his old friends) and what he ate in school (kaya bread) - this year, I have decided not to pack a snack box for Mr Picky Eater because I want him to eat whatever is served in school. Else he will just go hungry!

The pace will undoubtedly pick up in preparation for P1 so we are going to have to be more diligent with his schoolwork. One of my New Year resolutions is to spend more time reading with him - and hopefully teach him how to read on his own.

Looking forward to a good school year for him (and us)!
