Sean turns 4: School celebrations

Aug 18, 2013 09:26

On Sean's actual birthday (August 15), we had a little celebration in school.

The night before, we made a mini version of his robot cake and packed goody bags containing cereal-and-raisins-box robots for his little friends.

Sean woke up to birthday hugs and kisses from all of us. I explained to him that his birthday was the day he was born. He asked what being born meant and I told him that it was when he came out of my tummy. I showed him the very first video we took of him in the hospital and he was very fascinated by how small he used to be (at 'zero year old'). He watched the video many times and kept asking why the baby wouldn't open his eyes and why he did not respond to Foops when he was calling him. And he said the baby was 'very, very cute' :)

Sean was really happy to have us send him to school (he usually takes the school bus). He announced to every teacher he met along the way that it was his birthday that day and that he was four years old :)

We went back at snack time with the cake and his teachers and little friends gathered round to sing the birthday song. His teachers were really friendly but I thought his classmates were very quiet and reserved for a bunch of four-year-olds!

Not everyone was a fan of the chocolate cake too. Maybe it was too rich for them at 9am in the morning. I think next time, I will just stick to making simple butter cake with whipped cream frosting!

Foops couldn't take leave so we didn't have any big plans for the rest of the day.

Sean played with his new 'big boy' Lego set (thanks, Aunty Yuling and Raeann!) and splashed around with Ry outside before I decided to pack them both to the beach. Both boys had lots of fun digging in the sand and splashing in the waves.

Later, Foops joined us after work and we went to have our favourite yong tau foo at Joo Chiat. Sean had a big dinner of rice, soup and fishballs. Yums!

It was really a day of simple joys and I know Sean had the best time. Happy fourth birthday, my little jellybean :)
