Volkswagen Family Weekend bonanza

May 17, 2013 23:53

Last weekend, we were invited to the Volkswagen Family Weekend held at the Volkswagen Centre at McPherson Road last weekend.

There was a whole host of activities for the family. The boys had fun riding their scooters around and colouring at the creativity corner. They were also given balloons and cool Volkswagen lunchboxes.

As it was Mother's Day weekend, there was even a pampering corner with massage chairs tucked in a quiet corner of the showroom just for mums. It was just too bad I didn't get to sneak off to use it!

We were spoiled silly with chicken burgers and roasted potatoes grilled on the spot.

Sean was besides himself with excitement when he discovered the icecream kiosk. I didn't have the heart to say 'no' so the boys shared a big scoop of strawberry icecream - with rainbow sprinkles, no less. Sure made their day!

(We were there very early so we missed a number of the activities such as kiddy golf, trike rides and food art which were scheduled at the later part of the day.)

The main attractions of the day were of course the brand new Volkswagen rides. I was quite keen to try out the Touran and Sharan MPV models but the husband had his eye on the iconic Volkswagen Beetle.

I wasn't sure who was more excited when we took the shiny red Beetle out for a spin - my husband or Sean! Even though the car is a lot smaller than ours, it feels very solid and drives like a dream. The back seats are a lot more spacious than I had imagined. If car and COE prices were not so prohibitive, I think it would make a lovely second car ;)

Who knew car showrooms would be so much fun?
