Big Huge Games released a demo for their eagerly (at least by me) awaited game Rise of Legends on Friday. It has been a dissappointment on one level, graphically it ain't that nice (although there's time to add a level of polish and sheen that seems to be missing in this build, which is very possibly a much earlier build than the present, and the release date stilla month off), but in other areas I am greatly impressed.
The demo seems to include two whole sides (out of three) which is impressive, and this is not because each side is small, instead they are huge. Peopel have been disscussing teh sides vs each other, but for every pro one side has it has a con and so on, each side is crammed with little differences that could change a game. For instance each side seems to have 3 units sets, generally infantry, flying and heavy tanky sort of infantry. It is quite possible to concentrate on one asset, upg them and maybe stray a little into another and not be dissappointed for lack of upgs and options. I think this is the first RTS where it is completely unfeasable to research everything, even when you're messing around with an easy cpu. There seems to be just soo much.
Anyway further impressions later, but I'll be buying this on release
