I got Elder scrolls IV Oblivion today, had to trade in some old stuff I no longer want to get it but it was well worth it. I haven't got hold of an RPG this meaty for a long time, and even then I always found them somewhat daunting. This however begs to be played to death

I personally have gotten a very strong Thief vibe from the game, which I didn't get from earlier incarnations.
The only problems I'm having at the moment are:
1. The fucked up difficulty scaling.
The more you level, the harder the enemies are. Unfortunately, they scale more than you do per level. This may be a problem with the difficulty slider (apparantly if you move it down then up again, this problem no longer occurs).
2. The anti-immersive voices
What Oli said.
3. The occasional bug
With a game this large, it's impossible to test all the combinations of quests and positions and abilities. So, it comes as no great surprise that one of the mage's guild quests has bugged for me, so that I can't complete it. I did complete it on a previous character, so I may just go back and start again. Do it first.
I haven't found a problem with the wolves/mountain lions/etc, to be honest. I also tend to go to most places on foot, to level my athleticism. It's not that much slower, and lets me pick herbs on the way.
