In our series of stuff I will now publically admit to having written, the Shiny Happy Sasuke thing, minus one, as that was crap.

Ino was surprised to see Sasuke arrive into the flower shop one day. This was not an unpleasant turn of events, but it was a puzzling one. Still, Ino was not one to question a chance to make Sakura jealous when it came her way.
"Sasuke-kun!" she cried and beamed. "What brings you here?"
"Ah, Ino, I was wondering..." He trailed off, looking at one of the bouquets. Ino followed his gaze, and saw a butterfly sitting on a flower.
Right, she had heard about this. Apparently there had been brain surgery involved. She hadn't seen Sasuke after that. She had been slightly afraid to. That dark and broody thing had been quite, well, sexy, and she hadn't been sure how she would react to the change. But Sasuke didn't look different from before. Except for the smile. And that he had flower petals in his hair. Ino wondered from where they were.
"You like butterflies, do you?"
Sasuke started. "Yes, but that's not why... Well, I was thinking of dyeing my hair."
Pink, was the first thought Ino had. The second was, Would anything but bleach stick? For a while, she could just stare at Sasuke, but then she forced a smile on her face. "Why did you come to me? Do you want my help?"
"I'll ask Sakura. I just came because I wanted your opinion. Because you're supposed to know about colours and stuff."
Ino wasn't quite sure whether to feel flattered or not, but continued smiling brightly nevertheless. "I think you'll look great no matter what," she said. "And if Sakura won't help you, I will."
*
It seemed Sakura had been willing to help, because the next time Sasuke entered the shop, he was blond.
"What do you think?" he asked. Ino tried to absorb the sight.
"It's... different," she said.
So, she had a crush on Sasuke. Everyone did. Including the person who had been her best friend. And they fought over him, but it had always been a hopeless fight. It had been one of the last connections between them, tense but safe, because neither of them could win.
But Sasuke was different, and the fight didn't work anymore, and Ino realized for the first time that the connection with Sakura would be different, too.
Still, she gathered her courage. "Sasuke, I... kind of had a gift for you. If you want it."
"Really? What is it?" he asked, smiling brightly. Then he frowned. "But I have nothing for you--"
"It doesn't matter, it's just something small." She dug up a small hair clip that had a butterfly decoration on it. "I was thinking, since you like butterflies... but it's a stupid gift for a boy, isn't it? I don't know what I was thinking, I--"
"I think," Sasuke said, "it's very cute."
Ino shut up. Then, hesitantly, she walked up to Sasuke and reached for his hair. It wasn't soft at all.
Maybe, she thought, relationships and feelings were like flowers. They bloomed for a while, and then wilted away to give room for something else.
She attached the clip and took a few steps back. "I think you look great," she said, and it wasn't a lie.

Three days later, Ino decided she wasn't giving up on Sasuke after all. The boy really looked far too cute for his own good in a dress.

Sasuke didn't get Naruto. He never really had, but he got him even less now, which was odd because Sasuke felt he should have gotten Naruto better. And at first it had felt like he had. Naruto had been delighted at the change in his demeanour, they had talked a lot, they had had fun training together and all had seemed bright.
However, for some reason, with time Naruto had become increasingly upset. He nagged at Sasuke for not providing enough challenge anymore, and Sasuke had no idea what to do about it. He tried his best, he really did.
And he wouldn't quit now. So, despite his worries, he approached Naruto.
"Hi," he said, smiling.
Naruto sighed. "Do you have to be so perky?"
That right there was precisely what Sasuke didn't understand. "What should I be, then?" he asked.
Naruto gave him a tired look. Then, suddenly, Sasuke was pinned on the ground. Who knew Naruto could move that fast?
He waited cautiously, feeling oddly as if a swarm of butterflies were fluttering in his stomach, and apparently he was quiet for too long because Naruto glared at him. "Aren't you going to do anything about this?"
'Like what?' Sasuke wanted to ask, but Naruto's lips were on his before he could get a word out, and he couldn't think anymore.
"I will find your fire again, Sasuke." Naruto's voice was but a whisper in Sasuke's ear, yet it was full of the same unbreakable determination he put into everything else.
But Sasuke didn't understand because he felt like all of him was in fire already, what more could Naruto want, so he had to ask, "What do you mean?" And he waited for an answer, or for Naruto to do something else, and felt more than heard Naruto sob against his shoulder.

"I feel odd," Orochimaru said as he moved this body's fingers, his fingers, experimentally.
"Odd in what way?"
"As if... I feel..." He hesitated. "Was the boy acting strangely? Did he seem... drugged?"
"He was... very eager to please. Is there a problem? Should we find someone else?"
A butterfly caught Orochimaru's eye. He watched as it fluttered across the room.
"No," he said eventually. "This is fine."
----
"Why are you here?" Shikamaru asked as he looked down on Sasuke.
"Well," Sasuke said, "there was this butterfly and I followed it here... Am I in the way? Do you want me to leave? It's no problem, really."
There was not much Shikamaru could say to that. Not so long ago, he had followed a butterfly to this very roof. "It doesn't matter," he said, plopped himself down next to Sasuke and turned to look at the sky. He hoped Sasuke wouldn't try to talk, and apparently he remembered enough about Shikamaru, or at least was distracted by something, because he didn't.
Chouji arrived on the rooftop only minutes later, and blinked in surprise. "Why is Sasuke here?" he asked.
"Apparently to watch butterflies," Shikamaru said before Sasuke could start blabbing about how it would be no trouble at all really for him to go some place else.
"Oh," Chouji said. Then, after a moment of consideration, he offered his bag of potato chips to Sasuke. "Do you want one?"
"Thank you!" Sasuke smiled brightly, full of annoying perkiness.
Shikamaru didn't say anything. Chouji was a nice, kind person, and deserved many friends. Many more than he had. Many more friends that weren't Shikamaru.
However, that night Shikamaru had dreams where he tried to hook Sasuke up with Temari.
