For those of you who don't know, I'm a fan of the Buffalo Sabres. More precisely, I'm a fan of Chris Drury, who used to play for Colorado before they traded him away. I probably wouldn't be following the Sabres if he didn't play for them. So now that everyone knows my bias, here's a video from Thursday's game. Drury is #23 (blue) on the far right; he gets mowed down by #25 Chris Neil. It might be worth mentioning that Buffalo eliminated Ottawa from the playoffs last year. I imagine that played a part in all of this.
Somebody tell me that wasn't a dirty hit. Somebody tell me that's not a pretty nasty thing to do, nailing a guy in the chin with your shoulder. Drury had to have 20 stitches and is out indefinitely with 'concussion-like' symptoms. The Sabres had already lost six of their regular players to injuries and Drury is currently their leading goal-scorer (and co-captain). Half the team was playing in the minors a week ago.
Buffalo and Ottawa play again tonight. Should be epic.
