Hard to believe, but the weekend has gone by already...
Yesterday morning I got up and went to the beach! Yes, there is a beach in the Hague, it's called Scheveningen (please do NOT ask me how to pronounce it!) It was absolutely packed as it's august and it's been awfully hot for the area. But I managed to find a quiet enough spot to sit and read for a couple hours. I ended up a little sunburnt, but otherwise it was a good experience!
This morning I got up early to beat the heat and scoped out a new running spot. I found a nice little area where there is a fairly large park adjoining a ritzy neighborhood - prime running spot. I managed to get in my run before it got too hot, too. I also scoped out the trip to work this afternoon - it's really easy!
So far I have found The Hague to be a lovely and very liveable city. Almost everyone speaks perfect English, although I'd still like to learn at least a little Dutch while I'm here. The city is small enough to navigate easily and the public transport is great. There are a number of museums I have yet to check out, and lots of nice architecture, parks, etc. I've been told there's a very active expat community here, and I suppose I'll begin to see some of that in the coming weeks.
But for now, off to bed, must rest for my big first day at work!
