May 11th - Eugenics

Eugenics is rather a pet topic of mine, considering my field of knowledge. It's curious how "good science" is so quickly warped for political reasons. It also surprises me how little of this information is common in the US. Do schools ever teach that Nazi Germany got ideas about breeding humans from us? And that lots of eugenics ideas were sponsored and supported by the US Government? Not to mention all the forced sterilizations and occasional euthanasias that the Gov did.

Ran across this today. I can't believe I've never heard of this stuff. Seriously, Ishii is worse than Mengele in a lot of ways. And apparently all these "studies" were hidden by the US as well, in exchange for the data.

And this is just a whole bundle of fun:

I probably shouldn't link wikipedia, but I've researched many of these experiments from more legitimate sources and they were all described factually here, so I'm going to assume most are correct.

I dunno, I guess I'm just in a "there's no hope for humanity, people suck too much" mood today. Seriously though, it seems like the desire to torture and maim other people for little to no reason shows up the moment any people get an inch of power. And even more unpleasantly, statistically we'd all do the same under just a little but of pressure from authority.
