as i digest my "zesty style chicken sandwich" from festival, i'm also digesting some food for thought that i just thought id throw out there into the world of cyberspace.
i have a feeling that this might be a very cold winter. my basis is that i have a feeling and also the geese are already flying south... its only sept 7...maybe theyre flying to new jersey haha.
as i was walking back from R2 which btw is a dangerous walk in my opinion due to the fact that theres a lack of good places to cross the street. anyway as i was walking back ive realized something that i tend to think about a lot since jmu has an interstate running thru it. i think about where all those people on I-81 are going. and that takes me to the notion that we as human beings are always running around trying to get somewhere. we gotta slow it up a bit and enjoy what we have.
in astronomy the professor brought up something that i had forgotten to mention to many people but it is crazy to think about. every 75,000 or maybe its 750,000 years the north and south poles switch. no one knows why and no one really knows how but they do. supposedly we are like WAY overdue for a switching of the poles like 3 times overdue!!! and just to clarify magnetic north is kind of like a molten metal underneath the earth scientists think. and this pool of metal does not rest directly underneath the true north pole. presently its in northern canada. by 2050 they predict it will have gone over the north pole and be over in russia! it just moves around. the scary part about this is that if the poles were to switch, scientists dont know what will happen to the earths magnetic field during the flux. so earth may be prone to sun flares, asteroids, and other space debris that would normally be repelled by the atmosphere.
chew on that for a while.
ps i love jmu
