Iceland!
I have a bunch of other photos, but they're being held hostage at the nice photo place cuz I'm broke. These were one hour CVS photos, much more my style.

Hahaa. I love my weird cloak. I don't think I ever took it off in Iceland, it kind of swallowed me up but I didn't mind!

Your boyfriend is smart!
I'd been wanting to go since I was something like fourteen years old. This summer it actually happened, so worth it. I hate saying this, but taking advantage of Iceland's economy kinda really worked in my favor since the collapse. It is the mos t incredible place, I have to go back as soon as I can. We saw blue whales there!

It was SO hard to get a good picture of the blue whales, but it is apparently very, very rare to see them. Our guide was flipping out on his megaphone on the boat saying, "Oh just beautiful! Amazing! Not in my ten years here have I seen a pregnant Blue Whale!" Then he let us touch baleen and there were only 4 other people on the entire boat (go in June as opposed to July if you go because there are waay less tourists)...

If there's a cheaper way than flying to Iceland, I don't know about it! I don't know what taking a boat would be like, I actually didn't even think about it. But I do know that buying the plane tickets an entire year in advance definitely helped. Also, it sounds weird but doing a package deal is great too, because then you get a car and an itinerary as well as cheap places to stay/free breakfasts (steal rolls and put 'em in your bag!). But, if you want to just take tour buses around instead, Iceland has really great, clean youth hostels. I hear they are the best and spoil travelers for the rest of Scandinavia/Europe.

You could definitely attempt camping, it's pretty brave, admirable... In every travel guide I've read they've talked about camping as being particularly rough in Iceland and said they advised against it, one actually referred to it as "masochistic" Haha. It's just that the weather changes so rapidly and is so unpredictable. A lot of rain. People were camping at Skaftafell though and it seemed really nice. But, for example, I can't imagine anyone camping at Skaftafell for a few days and then camping in Myvatn, it just seems like you'd need entirely different gear because they are such differing ecological zones. It's so diverse because of it's location on a mid atlantic ridge. Know what I mean?

I went all around Iceland, the Golden Circle. It's three times smaller than Texas so it's fairly easy to make a good nice circle in 2 or 3 weeks. I was only there for a week and a half so there was a lot I missed out on. But I think it's good to go to both Southern and Northern Iceland, even if you're only there for a small amount of time.
If you ever decide you wanna commit you can ask me a million questions/borrow my millions of travel guides. I might not be the best resource but I really like to talk about Iceland!
