Devil is in the *abstract*...screw the details
Was having a debate with my adviser today on our immediate goals for the thesis I am writing. I suggested we split the effort 50-50 to positioning the work versus methodology. Our man is singularly focused on positioning, refuses to discuss methodology unless that is set right. For him methodology is just details which can wait.
I realized that such an approach made me acutely uncomfortable...maybe I am just a kid who is wondering how it will all work in the end or a compulsive problem solver who doesn't really care which problem he is solving :-)
