Brigitta realises something about a year into her stay in Taxon, it’s quite a surprise really since even though this year has been eventful it hasn’t brought many revelations, two at most, and both of them were fairly tiny… But this one is actually pretty darn big, and the tiniest bit worrying.
She might be a tiny bit in love with her angelic best friend.
It isn’t exactly worrying, Anna is after all a lovely person and if Brigitta had to choose one person to be tied to for the rest of her life Anna would probably make the top three… But it is a little weird, she’s never really been truly in love before, she’s thought that she was in love but that was in her younger, absolute idiot days and so doesn’t count.
Really, she’s a little annoyed with herself that she didn’t notice before really, ever since she met Anna she hasn’t really gone a day without at least waving at her on the street, and for three months before the revelation (which came while halfway up a tree and nearly caused her to fall and break her leg) she often found herself staring at Anna near constantly, not in a ‘I wonder if she can run fast?’ Friendship sort of way but in a ‘wow, her hair and eyes are remarkably pretty’ sort of way.
Really, there are two ways to go when you realise that you’re kind of in love with your best friend, you can hide it away and act like everything is still the same, or you can leap for it and go for a snog… Now, Brigitta has a very firm opinion on the first option, she considers it the cowards way, nothing is impossible after all and if you don’t share it just festers away inside and distracts you, and that’s how people get killed.
She’s never going to be a coward again.
Brigitta kisses Anna at about 10PM a year and ten days after she arrived in Taxon, and Anna’s only response (besides the kissing back, of course) is to smirk and chuckle “took your time didn’t you?” Before leaning back in to kiss her again, it’s almost perfect… Okay, so six hours later when they finally settle down and Brigitta gets to stare at Anna sleeping it does become perfect, but that’s a story for another day.
