Media and the War in Iraq

I am reading an article title "The Media Falls for Conservative Propaganda -- Again" as I read this I just can't help but think about how when it comes to politics it feels as if I can not get any good reporting anymore. Here we have an obviously democratic report trying his hardest to discredit someone who is obviously a republican report who is talking about how the surge in Iraq is working. Now I'm not saying that the republican is right and I'm not saying the democrat is right. This is purely a back drop for what I see to be the largest problem that we have to face when it comes to our media. Neither side is willing to publish the whole truth. Both side is so busy slandering the other that they argue mute points without giving any substantial evidence. If you talk to one side the Iraqi's hate us and don't want us there. They talk about how many people die and throw out percentages on how things are over there currently (oddly enough they usually don't mention what it was like before, have this percentages improved or gotten worse, we don't know and they don't tell us) But then you read a post from someone who has a son in Iraq who talks about speaking with the people whom he protects and how thankful they are that we are there. He talks to a soldier in the Iraq army who says that if America were to leave he would quit.

I get Time magazine weekly now and I try to read it whenever I can to keep myself informed. But sometimes I just can't handle it because it is so obviously hardcore democratic that I feel like I am reading a bad Michael Moore script. But what is my other choice? Fox News who is so hard core Republican that you could never expect them to show how bad a speaker Tony Snow really can be? These are my choices when it comes to being informed about what is going on and both leave such a great deal to be desired to me. How sad that we can not trust or believe in anything these days.

But there was one article I was reading today that isn't politically charged and has me quite excited. It turns out that I company is in the process of building a space hotel. Granted it is very pricey ($4 million for 3 days) and I will most likely never be able to afford that, but the thought of the progress that we are making when it comes to this is exciting. They plan to open it in 2012. When you think about it 5 years really isn't that far off. Just think, commercial space travel will be possible soon enough. how amazing is that!
