Yeah, I know that Some People won't ask themselves those questions, so I leave it to others, such as you, to ask in a still, small voice to hopefully jolt them out of complacency and into conscience.

And speaking of complacency, yes, I know I'm being anachronistic , but it was stunning to me to see the amount of complacency on display. And speaking of being shocked (and out of time), there was one of the chorus girls, with a short brunette bob, who looked like she stepped off the set of Man Men.

This also got me to thinking about westerns and making of myth that I'd been considering earlier. Think about it - the mythic Western grew up with our country, and most of these stories were created for people back in Eastern cities, as it was happening. It took me a long time to see that, coming from the other end (most "Westerns" take place East of me). And this myth making includes not only movies, but musical theater as well. It just strikes me as odd - yeah, I know, it's a function of my place and time - that New Yorkers are looking in on these fictional versions of their fellow Americans way out West….
