Election 2008

Jul 13, 2005 23:24

Because making one post about it now prevents me from making 30,000 posts about it three years from now.

Mark Warner for president.

Anyone who'll help him win for Vice President.

There. I'm done. Now back to sorting clothes.

Did a brief read of him on his website's biography and on Wikipedia. Seems like there's nothing wrong with him.

What's the catch?

The catch is that it'll never happen because the Democrats are fucking morons where it comes to nominating people for the top job ( ... )

There's brief talk of Ed Rendell running, but as much as I'd hope that'll never turn out to be anything.

From what I'm reading about Warner his biggest tally against him his that he's only had one term in office (his current stint as governor), and he isn't inclined to run for senator in 2006. He could run for John Warner's seat in '08, or he could run for president, but he isn't going to announce his plans until after he leaves office (end of this year).

DraftMarkWarner.com has a list of some of the issues he's commented publicly on. I like that he's in favor of a fair death penalty (especially DNA testing), I definately like that he wants to extend hate crimes to include sexual orientation, but I'm a bit confused on his "Abolish Parole" thing. We could do much worse than that ( ... )

True, his only being first-term is a weakness, but he's got everything else ( ... )

One would hope the Hillary thing is all smoke and no fire, but you'd be surprised how stupid the Democrats can be. They want the person with the bona fide name recognition and "credible experience", even if that person will go down in flames with three states to his name. I think given the fact that Howard Dean nearly kicked everyone's ass it's a fair statement to say that it's anyone's game. Warner doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd go into a screaming tirade worthy of techno remixes, so he's got that going for him, but it all depends on whether or not he'd run ( ... )

It wasn't screaming. The media portrayed it as screaming because they didn't want him to win, because, *gasp* God forbid, he would've actually changed things! He was just trying to pump up the crowd. Give me a break ( ... )
