In an attempt to shake the blues, have been trying to go back to the roots, as it were - back to doing things that used be fun. Like:
a) Read - haven't read a book in four months essentially since the winter break in India, such is the life of the grad student. Summer plans include loot from book crawling in Bangalore - Haruki Murakami's A Wild Sheep Chase, Mario Vargas Llosa's The Feast of the Goat, Amitav Ghosh's Shadow Lines, can't wait for the long days..
b) Quiz - we have a little quiz club going here, had a biggish quiz last week, with about 20 teams taking part. I ended teaming with a couple of my activist pals, and we placed second after an excruciating tie-break (mmk and sankalpa does this script sound familiar?). To add to the distinct sense of deja vu, we ended up getting book vouchers as prizes, 'cept instead of Premier Boook Store, they were to the Jeffery Amherst Bookshop (incidentally named for perhaps the worlds first bio-terrorist)
For now, in a few hours, my committee meets to decide my academic fate..
