I think you can tell this is not one of the more serious stories as soon as you meet two characters named Alva Simon and Theodore. Add spies in white and spies in black setting traps for each other and the search for the sole surviving Poi Dog, this story is not exactly meant to produce unsettling horror or tear-producing pathos.
Really not sure what is going on with Dandelion that she keeps sparing Bane. She definitely is hard-hearted through and through, and has murdered dozens of innocent people for money. I don't think she still retains any affection for Bane. She's up to something in a long range plan,
As to why Bane doesn't make a committed effort to bring her in as he has other mercenaries, welllll... I should mention that Dandy looks an awful lot like a young Deborah Harry. Just with a silenced Walther in her delicate little mitt.
