Finally a fic where the medical ramifications of anal rape are acknowledged. I am a retired E.R. physician, and I've seen patients almost die form rectal tears from this. Not to mention the loss of muscle control if the tears go through muscle. Note, I say rape, not consensual gentle anal sex. Nothing whatsoever wrong with that.
Aside from my excitement about medical reality, I really liked this story (waiting impatiently for the rest). I love Sam's strength and ability to keep his head, since so many series moments and fics show him forgetting everything in the face of danger to his brother, or castigating his father for finishing a hunt before dealing with Dean's injuries. Maybe he's finally growing up! And I love Dean's trust in Sam, even to the point of letting him see his fear and pain. We all know how hard that is for him. Maybe he is finally acknowledging that Sam is grown up, also.
Whoa, what Dean did to those bastards!. I think every cop or victim has fantasized about this in cases of rape or brutality, but to actually "see" it happen is a bit intense. Not that they didn't deserve it, not just for our boys, but for all their previous and potential victims. And there wasn't much else they could do, to stop them. The boys can't exactly go to the cops and hang around to testify at a trial in a few months or years. (By the way, your medical knowledge showed on the description of gelding, also. Good job.) A little too vindictive of Dean to cut of a little more on his rapist, but I guess, understandable when he's not sur if he's going to need surgery himself. That good old boy is going to need a lot of reconstuction before he can pee again properly. Not sure if that fit's Dean's character totally or not. At least he didn't ask Sam to go that far. It's actually very much in Sam's character to do what he did, however. He really is more like John than Dean is, capable of great rage and need for vengeance. He just never had reason for it before Jess, and the loss of his dreams. He can be one hell of a scary man, when he needs to be. Thanks again for such a great story. (Kind of sad how many of us like stories where our boys get hurt so badly. But it is the best way to bring out their courage and skill and inner strength. So I guess we'll have to keep torturing them.)
