I endeavored recently to listen to all available episodes of
Escape. The show is a little underappreciated - despite solid stories and a cast that will be familiar to most OTR fans - it never had the star power of it's cousin Suspense. Now that I'm over 200 episodes in, it's an intriguing collection of classic adventure stories, the odd science fiction tale, spy thrillers and crime.
Vincent Price starred in at least two episodes of Escape. His performance in "Three Skeleton Key" is probably more well known than this episode linked below. As I listened to "Present Tense", Ambrose Bierce's short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" immediately came to mind. It has the same fantastical mood and Price is stellar, as always, in his storytelling. Of course, Escape also produced an episode of "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" and both were retold on Suspense.
