SURPRISE... NOT!!
So, as I was sitting down at the local mexican restaurant, eating my burrito, I noticed that CNN was announcing McCain's running mate: Gov. Sarah Palin
And as the talking heads were all discussing his chioce... how remarkable... blah blah blah... one of them then said, "yes, this is just typical maverick McCain style, always surprising people!!!"
That's when the guy behind the counter almost had to give me the Heimlich Manuever... because I nearly choked on my burrito.
SURPRISE!?!?!?! Holy Fucking Shit!!
Only a complete moron couldn't have seen this coming!!!
John McCain's talent lies in his superb ability to exploit any political conflict, be it the Judical Confirmation Battles in 2006 or the latest Immigration issues. And not because McCain believes whatever his position d'jour is (because no one can ever site evidence on his previous stance as being consistent with his current one), but because it presents him an opportunity for media attention.
So let's be clear... anyone who's watched John McCain over the years knows that when they call him a "Maverick", it really is a euphemism for "OPPORTUNIST".
Therefore, it was perfectly predictable that what determined McCain's VP pick was the current dispute between Hillary supporters and Barrack supporters... his effort to draw "disgruntled Hillary voters"... and not anything in his platform message.
Well, I guess since his own party hates him, he has to resort to his old tricks.
But "surprising"? No... I don't think so. Nice try, though.
