The city of Pskov is one of the oldest surviving settlements in the country, making it an ideal destination for anyone interested in early Russian history. Though it’s unclear when exactly Pskov was founded, the earliest mention of the city dates back to 903 CE, with the settlement eventually growing into the Pskov Republic, an independent nation existing from the 14th century to the 16th century before being captured by the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Today, the city is famed for its high concentration of centuries-old churches, as well as its surviving city walls that date back over half a millennium......
