Neville Longbottom is the son of two of the finest Aurors I have ever known. I’ve always tried my best with him, but he simply never did seem to grasp anything as quickly or completely as other students.

I cannot begin to tell you what I felt, the pride I felt, that day at St. Mungo's when the news came to me. My children, my students, fought as bravely as any member of the Order when the attack on the Ministry came. They were foolish, arrogant children, no doubt, but brave beyond their years.

Neville was there beside them, fighting the good fight. I wish I could have been there to see it. I wish I could have seen him assume his rightful legacy as a member of the Order. I wish I could have told him how proud I was of him, how proud his parents would be.

I have Neville next term, sixth year. He will continue to fumble, I am certain. But now I know, deep in my bones, that he is a Longbottom, through and through. And I will be more patient with him, because of all the things that make a soul Gryffindor, I believe Neville will be known for bravery.
