¿Que Pasa?

hello all!

I am safe in Belize, just a little worse for wear after orientation. Since landing on tuesday I have: swam in a thundering waterfall, tubed over another waterfall, spotted one of the rarest birds in Central America (Black headed Trogon), played backgammon with a scottish man after wandering around a completely foreign town all alone, eaten more rice and beans than I can remember, been eaten by more mosquitos than I can remember, and much much more.

Tomorrow we start up our Belize Context course. It's Mayan day, which includes a visit to Xunatunich, the old Mayan retirement and invalid hospital, a talk from the premiere archeologist in Belize, and an authentic Mayan dinner.
This weekend, a few other students and I will be making a trip to Caye Caulker. snorkeling and beaches, and hopefully a sailboat tour.

A couple pictures after the cut, check them out. Haven't had much time to take pictures during this busy orientation week.

The view from the mound, right out our front door. You can see El Castillo, the largest temple at Xunantunich through the morning fog. This is what I am greeted with every morning.

This is a Ctenosaur, not an iguana. We found him sunning himself in the pasture on our first tour around the farm.

The streets of San Ignacio are crowded, it's hard to know where the cafe front ends and the sidewalk begins.

The open air market, at it's least crowded time.

One of our scavenger hunt finds.

-That's all, keep an eye out later
