So all my friends are doing the meme about unpopular fandom opinions they hold. I'm just using it as an excuse to have a discussion. I want to know what you all think about RPF.
It's just that to me, they *are* characters. I don't really know anything about them unless they (or the writers, in the case of actual characters) are willing to show it.
I don't think I could ship them the way I would ship characters, because I can't go that far. Logically I know they are real people. But I guess to me RPF is very similar to other fanfiction. You're taking what you know about a person or character, and taking vast artistic license, and coming up with your own plot and situation and everything.
So while I'm not an ardent supporter of RPF, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with it (though depending on how it is done I think it can have issues). I'm just wondering what you folks think.
