Hehe. He goes by Jim. Which is ADORABLE. (other note about his name: Juliet vacillates between calling him James and calling him Sawyer (in old time, three years ago or whatever) and it bothered me.)
Daniel being sad is the most depressing thing ever. And, wait, did we see him in the future? (it's weird calling the 1970s future.) I mean the three years later part. Oh no. Daniel! My love!
JIN SPEAKS ENGLISH! My boyfriend did not notice this. I was like "ohmigodhe'sfluent!" and the boyfriend was like, "What? Oh. Yeah. Whatever." I thought it was exciting.
SAWYER IS THE LITTLE SPOON! I mean, I understand that as a Skater I should be focusing on the awfulness of Sawyer/Juliet, but seriously. The best part of this episode was Sawyer as the little spoon. It made me laugh, very loudly and very hard, until my boyfriend was like "What the hell is wrong with you?" and then "This is why I don't watch with other people. You get too emotional." hehehehe. I maintain that anyone who did not laugh at that must be *trying* to avoid the joys in life.
Sad that Juliet wants so badly to get off the Island she wanted to do it even though it was the 1970s and she wouldn't be going back to her sister and the kid. Hm. Does she exist in the 1970s off the Island? As in, if she went back and tried to contact people she knew would they be all "What are you talking about? Juliet Burke is 15 years old and sitting next to me?" Hm. I didn't really think of that.
Anyway. That is all I think I have to say besides discussing the Sawyer/Juliet/Kate/Jack/is anyone else involved in this thing? polygon. I don't even know if it counts as a polygon because there are so many lines connecting people in this thing. Anyway...
I think Jack's going to be a douche. (Sorry Deb :P). I mean, he's not going to miraculously not be a douchebag anymore, right? He's not going to suddenly stop thinking of women as "his" and Sawyer as competition. (Though it's gotta be embarrassing that the first time you see the guy in three years, he's in a suit and you're in a Dharma uniform.) Jack and Juliet were together when Jack left. Juliet is now with Sawyer. Tell me a guy like Jack isn't going to be quite upset about that fact. Juliet was "his" and Sawyer took her. And Sawyer already half-took Kate from him, so it's just worse. I don't know. I expect it to be a big issue.
But Skaters (and any of you who know me know I am a diehard Skater), let's face it: if the writers are going to be idiots and let Jate happen in the end, Sawyer/Juliet is a pretty good alternative. I'd rather he have someone else he loves (even though I think he still loves Kate) than just be sad and angsty and alone.
Also, I feel like this actually increases the likelihood of Skate in the end. Which is a better story: "We could never say we loved each other and then it was too late. We each thought the other one was dead, and certainly never expected to see each other again. We were separated for three years and both tried to move on. Then when you came back I was with someone else and we had to work through that in addition to all the shit that happens on this Island." or "I've loved you forever and you've always tried to love me. It worked for a while once we got off of the Island. Then it didn't and I went a little crazy with the drugs and alcohol. When we got back to the Island, the people we had previously been with were together, so why don't we start banging too?"?
Yeah. First one. Exactly. And entertainment is all about the better story. So I think this helps. I also think it is a rare time when the writers are sort of accepting, "This will be a big deal because everyone knows Sawyer should be with Kate." I mean, this wouldn't matter if Sawyer wasn't supposed to/didn't want to be with Kate. It wouldn't be a big deal. So the fact that it is shows that the writers are accepting that. Which I think is a good step.
