Deutschland ueber alles! lol oh man, that never fails to sound wrong even though it really isn't meant that way. Anyway, Germany just beat Argentina in penalty shots (I hate penalty shots, so cheap) and are moving on to the semifinals. I'm glad they won, but I wish they had gotten a goal during regular game or overtime. The SICK GIANT Germans (all taller than 6'1") would have been better if only they could propel their largeness faster. The Argentines were running circles around them; but the whole picture was that the Germans were really damn good at being huge kinda slow soccer players and the Argentines were really damn good at being small fast soccer players. The game was also Foul City, population a million. There was a foul shot within two minutes.
This afternoon, Italy v. Ukraine. Italy is the favorite, but also apparently some ex-player from their previous world cup runs just attempted suicide by jumping out a window holding a rosary (creepy, isn't it?) and so that may throw off the team's game.. In addition to the soccer scandal that the Italian teams have been playing through.. So Ukraine may have a good shot here.
Tomorrow it's England v. Portugal, and Brazil v. France. I spent so much of my work day today slacking off, watching soccer, and IMing on my phone with Rich about the game, it's shameful. I can't help it if the game is on! lol Actually I brought my paperwork out with me into the waiting room and did it whenever I could tear my eyes off the screen.
Weird thing? Some of the Argentine players were faaaaat (by soccer-player standards anyway). I just don't see how that happens..
