CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Aradia Megido
CANON: (MSPA) Homestuck
CANON REFERENCE:
Homestuck wiki articleAGE: 14
GENDER Female
YEAR IN SCHOOL MS2
ENROLLMENT Fully funded by her grandmother before her death; whatever wealth she had was given to Aradia in her will to help support it.
APPEARANCE: Aradia is fairly tall for a girl her age, standing at around 5'6". She has an average build leaning slightly on that of a more active person, as her hobbies allow her to get some measure of workout. She is usually clothed in plain clothing, partly because of her inability to afford nicer things and partly because of their practicality; most of her wardrobe consists of long skirts, t-shirts and button-ups. Her hair falls in dark waves and natural curls over her shoulders and back and reaches just past her buttocks. She makes up for the plainness of her clothes with the colors of her face; her lips and eyelashes are more often than not colored dark red, as she inherited her grandmother's stash of makeup and makes use of it. Her face gives hints of an Italian heritage.
(In canon, as she is a troll, she has grey skin and candy corn-colored ram horns. For the period when she was a ghost, her eyes were completely white; they become their normal yellow again when she is revived.)
PERSONALITY: (Note: It may be a bit easier to read the history section first!)
In the past year or two, Aradia has gone through a veritable rollercoaster of personalities. Let's start with how she was before her first accident. She was happy, adventurous girl with a multitude of interests, most of which were inherited from her grandmother. A fan of Indiana Jones, she is deeply interested in archeology and history. As a child, she was the kind of girl who would dig in the dirt in search of artifacts. With her multitude of hobbies, friends and loving grandmother, Aradia felt fulfilled; as fulfilled as a girl her age could, anyway.
After her accident and the death of her grandmother(mirroring her canon's death/ghostly stage through her robotic stage), she became disinterested in her hobbies, people and life in general. She was a real downer and having her around was an unpleasant experience; it was especially spooky when she became more interested in the occult and the voices of the dead, or when she became destructive of her surroundings simply due to boredom of existence. This was easily the worst stage of her life so far. She believed that nothing could change fate and that struggle was futile. While this was caused by her near-death experience and the death of her grandma, she became more apathetic and bored rather than outright depressed. Some may think it was her way of coping, but everyone knew it wasn't healthy. Still, because of her eeriness, many people were too afraid to even approach her for help. She kept to herself during this time and shut herself in, only interacting with people when she deemed it necessary.
Now for how she is presently, after her second accident. Aradia has reached an epiphany after witnessing once again the fragility of life, but from a drastically different point of view. After a period of reevaluation, she has realized that life and time are precious, and that wasting her time moping serves no purpose. She has since dedicated herself to living life to the fullest and to experience what it was to offer. With this knowledge, she feels much happier and much more alive than she did before her first accident.
To go more in depth, Aradia shares quite a few traits with the Aries archetype ,which she essentially represents in canon. The most obvious one is that she is adventurous, which is evidenced by her love of archeology and all things related to it. She isn't the type to sit back and wait for results; she goes into the fray and gets the results by herself. She may be a little impulsive at times, though this is adequately balanced out with a good dose of rational thought and understanding. Most importantly is her "catchphrase" of sorts, which accurately describes a good part of her personality regardless of what stage of her life she's in: "I'm ok with it." In fact, she is ok with a lot of things, and she'll say so frequently. And when she's not ok with something, she will most definitely let you know. One can draw from this notion and her interests that she is an open-minded individual and that she is relatively easygoing, and that while it isn't easy for her to lose her temper anymore, she will set her foot down once she's had enough.
When interacting with others, she is generally friendly, though her manner of speech can sometimes be a little confusing (and dare I say it, occasionally eerie). If she comes to bear a grudge against someone, she will get it out of the way as soon as possible to be even. Thankfully, that doesn't happen often. At least not anymore. If something or someone weirds her out, she will state it directly and honestly. Aradia is the type of person to only lie through omission, and even then, she doesn't do that much anymore. She is more likely to be upset about a wrong done to a friend rather than a wrong done to her, and while she's friendly, she isn't exactly close to anyone in particular. She is better friends with some certain people, but there is a vague sense of distance about her. Perhaps there is an underlying reason for that, but so far even Aradia isn't quite sure about it, although she hypothesizes that it's merely her "role" to be more of a guide or helper rather than a close partner. Whatever that means. She says spooky things like that sometimes. Another thing: despite being relatively modest in a handful of aspects and being all-around poor, her behavior doesn't change whether she's talking to someone as poor as her or someone who's incredibly wealthy. Social class isn't something particularly important to her, and she bears no particular envy towards the more fortunate ones. Again, as she says, she is ok with it.
TL;DR version: Aradia is an adventurous and understanding girl who's very honest and is ok with a lot of things, but won't take shit once she's had enough. There's sort of a spooky sense of mystery about her, but she'll still be friends with you. Probably.
COMPUTER APTITUDE: Aradia knows enough about computers to use messenger programs and play online games well, at the very least. She is quite smart and quick to pick up things, but she probably isn't the best person to go to if you need something hacked or upgraded or anything of the sort.
AU HISTORY: The Megido family has never been one of the most financially fortunate ones. When Aradia was born, her parents found themselves deep in debt and were struggling to make ends meet. Not wanting to put their young daughter through the misery of their poverty, they sent her to live with her paternal grandparents until they could get through their problems. Growing up, she became very close to her grandmother (her grandfather passed away when she was little); she was a very intelligent woman who worked as a history teacher and had an interest in archeology and, as Aradia later discovered while sifting through things in the attic, the occult. Things like ouija and other forms of communication with spirits. Needless to say, especially after watching the Indiana Jones trilogy, those interests quickly became Aradia's own as well. The household was still considered poor by today's standards, but it was still much better than what her parents could have provided for her. Aradia had her circle of friends in her town, with whom she LARPed, another of her interests. With this, Aradia was a happy, fulfilled young girl. For a time.
One day, a freak accident occured while she was out shopping with her grandmother. No one was even sure what exactly had transpired, but it left Aradia in a short coma and killed her grandmother (who she would later find out had protected her). When she awoke from her coma and learned of her grandmother's death, Aradia became morose and fatalistic. Her interests in anything dwindled; her other relatives couldn't be reached (not even her parents), so she was sent to a foster home. Her house was to be put for sale, but rumors of it being haunted spread and it was left intact for the time being. During that time, the only thing that kept her going was playing an online game with her friends (offline and online), and even that didn't really seem to help her attitude any. Still, she had nothing else to do, so might as well play. She came to believe that if she could study the occult, perhaps she could reach her grandmother again. But that never happened.
Another change happened after several months. As luck would have it, the same freak accident occured at the same location as she was walking by. Seeing a small child about to be crushed, she reacted without thinking and jumped to save him. She was injured in the process but it was only a superficial wound; seeing the child's reaction and realizing her own feelings about that life-or-death situation caused her to reevaluate her opinion on life. The location of the incident was then closed off.
After being discharged for her injury, Aradia returned to her house to look through the things that were left there. There, she found a heartfelt letter left by her grandmother. She had never felt more inspired and happy to be alive, and thus decided to live her life to the fullest. It was there, as well, that she found a letter of recommendation and a hidden cheque for Aradia to use to enroll into Reims Academy. Not wanting to disappoint her grandmother, she took that chance.

LOG/3RD PERSON SAMPLE
Aradia dusted the old books gathered around her as she sat down on the attic floor. It had been a while since she last visited the attic. The last time was with grandma, when she showed her her photo albums. They had already gathered dust since then. She could easily tell which things had been touched last, and when, as the difference in layers of dust was clear. Someone else would have complained about it, but not Aradia. The dust gave it a nostalgic feel. A historical feel.
Readjusting her skirt comfortably beneath her, she pulled a heavy book into her lap and slowly creaked it open. She was greeted with pages she has seen before but never tired of; yellowed paper and faded photographs of scenes and peoples of years passed. Aradia smiled as she found pictures of her grandmother, perhaps from four decades ago, presenting a small fossil she found with a proud, eager expression and a dirty face. The ink beneath the photographs clearly expressed her energy, even as it dried and faded with age: Sometimes I wonder if I should have been an archeologist, rather than a teacher. Even tiny finds like these are amazingly thrilling!
The girl giggled to herself, remembering how the old woman had recounted that story to her once. They had then gone out to the park and dug holes into the ground. They didn't find anything and almost got in trouble, but the adventure was more important than the result.
An adventure. Aradia slipped her hand into her pocket and produced the information pamphlet of that academy that had been left out for her. She didn't even need to open it. Simply holding it, looking at it was enough. Enough for her to know that yes, going there would indeed be an adventure on its own. She had a good idea of what she wanted to do. But if anything were to decide otherwise, she'd be ok with it too. Because it's the adventure that counts. Grandma would say the same.
Closing the album and putting it away on the book pile one more time, Aradia stood, dusted herself off, and made her way back downstairs, pamphlet in hand. It was time to look up some information.
