Finished clean up for our largest event of the year yesterday. After working seven days straight, I think I've recovered and rested enough to start house clean up and vacation packing.

Went grandmama mode and fell asleep before 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday nights, which shows the level of exhaustion. I rarely go to bed before midnight.

Came over to MNP's yesterday afternoon; he's working a lot this week, so I'll be heading back to Maryland in a few hours. (See above cleaning and packing.)

MNP made dinner and brought me Troegs Hop Back, sweetie that he is.

The backpack (for tackle, but it's nice enough for a general use BP) I ordered from Cabela's also arrived; it's pretty sweet, with straps for surf pole holders, extension areas on the bottom of the pack, a pliers holder (of course,) lots of protected areas, and plenty of room for my boxes of tackle. The only downside is that it's another thing on the packing for vacation list--moving tackle from my shitty Flambeau bag (started falling apart after only a few months of use; total crap) to my schwanky Cabela's pack. Well worth it, I think, especially if I manage to snag a big redfish or two next week.

We'll be leaving Sunday morning and spending a good nine or ten days at Ocracoke Island. Should be a vacation with plenty of surf, sand, fish, and fun. Ocracoke's tourists are long gone, and it'll be all locals and fishermen, with loads of migratory fish making their way down the coast. W00t.

My mom and brother will also be visiting for a few days, which will be nice, since I doubt I'll see them during the holidays. They've also never been to the island, so it'll be nice to share the beauty and serenity with them. Not to mention the woohooness of pulling in something big and feisty from the waves.
