Whippet, Baby; Whippet Right

"Stalin had it right with the Five-Year Plan." Said that today over lunch as we spoke about attending university. Little did I know it would end up in a discussion of where Stalin would go to university in the States and how he would behave. I was not entirely surprised by some of the blank looks, but hey, at least part of the table got the reference.

Ended up lending my Court of the Red Tsar to a co-worker. Behold the glory that is tabloid academia. Behold Mr. Montefiore, the master of the simile.

Wanted to get Young Stalin with my five free bucks at Amazon, but it won't be out in the States until October, even thought it's available in the UK and elsewhere already. Perhaps I'll grab it from Amazon UK. Perhaps I'll wait. In any case, it's damned inconvenient and means my five bucks will have to go elsewhere.

MNP and I had a stellar afternoon crabbing yesterday. Twenty-three blue crabs (including one peeler--the poor thing.) Over half of them Number One Jimmies. Classic Wye River crabs. Booyow, it's August.

I selected an 8.25 incher (catching crabs and eating them can both sound perverse; yay!) With the sides, there was much stuffedness. I still have a veggie drawer filled with steamed crabs. Will probably pick and pack the bulk of the meat away for the winter.
