Before: Did a short (12 session) acting course at the National Theatre, formed a loose theatre group as a result (archtheatre.com, but how often the website will get updated is anyone's guess), got 2 gigs (one someone from the course, one actual real punter booking) to play theArch, an evil whackjob cult (3 hours in character, plus 20 minute presentation / performance, ending with our 'moving meditation' dissolving into farce as Columbia Aspexit changes into CNC's Everybody Dance Now.
No prizes for guessing who got to play cult leader. Went down well, must people take us as real until the final point. A walkout each time (people who weren't willing to listen to our poisonous filth) and a person who almost got ready to hit me both times, until we defused the situation with a planted interruption.
Failed to sail - not had the time yet.
(ADDED) Saw The Cure. Because they didn't have an album to flog, they played loads of old stuff (1015 followed by Someone Else's Train ... fun) which was good. Because it's Melbourne, hardly anyone danced (bad). Ah well.
Did more work on the series, began realising how to animate. It's about the characters. To quote BN 'If in doubt, act it out' to which I'd add 'act it even if not in doubt'. Coming to the BBC / PBS / CBC /10 about November: Animalia
http://animalia.tv/ (my shot on the trailer is 'hello...anybody there? ')
Visited Sydney for S's 40th - he's going to be a dad for a second time too. Very popular idea it seems.
Coming back over was good fun, nice to see lots of people, sad to miss others. Spent most of it chasing across the UK, though at a leisurely pace. I know no-one there'll thank me, but nice to see green (rather than yellow) countryside. Hasn't made it any easier to work out what to do once I finish this contract. Probably travel for a month or two is the plan, then.... then...
Finished the tattoo on my arrival back in Aus, getting colour tints in. Had a bit (!) of a panic as I'd got used to seeing it monochrome and thought I'd messed it up, but it's added a load of movement that wasn't there before, they've changed from pictures to characters, so all good.
Started another acting class, did more animation. Starting to think I'm ok, then see the work that's turned out by other folk in the studio, and despair (actually, more think 'blimey, they're good') again. Ah, but I can't affect what they do, so just concentrate on improving my stuff....
