I associate a lot of Lady Gaga with Karin, since she is a sexy badass lady who isn't afraid to go out and get what she wants. "Bad Romance" in particular used to be my flagship Sasuke/Karin song until I stopped my shipping activities in order to better consume digital tequila about it. I like this icon for talking about badass ladies and/or Lady Gaga.

Self-explanatory: my precision f-strike icon. This is also one of my favorite lines from Sasuke ever, especially given the ironic feel of him being the one to deliver it. Ohhh my gosh, Aqua. I have officially determined that Aqua is my first ever girlcrush, even given that I will probably never get to play the game she's in for equipment/money reasons. Nevertheless, the things I do know about her make her SO RIDIC AWESOME to me, and I want to be like her. This icon is my "determination" icon. The keywords/comments are a translated line from Orange Range's song "*~Asterisk," best known for being the first opening Bleach theme, back when that series was actually something worth watching. But I digress. I feel like that line fits Aqua because it's a sort of "I'm not just doing this awesome thing for myself, but for the ones I love" sort of sentiment.

Simply an icon for being silly. I've actually had it on my hard drive for a loooong time, but never bothered to upload it until I started cleaning out/revamping my icons a few months ago. The comment text is some small meme that was going around at the time I uploaded it: "eh [verbs] [noun] and doesn't afraid of anything." And come on. Christopher Plummer? Hot stuff.

I decided I should have an icon of Hinata being strong and beautiful and determined and hopeless and badass all at once. It's just one of those required things. Another "determination/badass ladies" icon, only with a little less shiny optimism and a little more gritty realism. The keywords/comment text are lines from a Chiodos song, "Is It Progression If a Cannibal Uses a Fork?" It's a dark sort of song, and I felt like those lyrics in particular kind of represented the sudden dark turn in Hinata's fate around the time of the Pain Arc.

I had wanted an Animorphs icon, and though I have discovered I am not such a fan of text icons, I thought this one was visually pretty enough to warrant using. It has ended up being my "sociopolitical commentary/observations on dumbassery" icon, since it doesn't really display a bias but accurately sums up the human race in general. Also, Ax is amazing.

A Goofy Movie is one of my favorite Disney movies ever, and the all-purpose awesomeness of this icon totally guaranteed it a place in my heart. While Absolute Boyfriend turned out to be an ill-executed trite mess of bullshit in the end, the first chapter was actually quite funny. This is one of my favorite panels from the entire manga, when Riiko is rejected by the guy she asks to go out with her while mistakenly holding her bra in her hand because she tripped into her own laundry while running out the door. The next panel is just this wide angle shot of her, quite small, standing in the middle of the street, holding her bra, with a cold wind blowing her hair, and the huge words YOU LOSE written above her head. It's absolutely hilarious. I use this icon for "epic fail" moments.

Beauty and the Beast: my favorite movie of all time and the greatest influence on my childhood that I can recall. I have to shamefully admit that I stole this icon from someone in a capslock community, but when I went hunting in their userpics, they had no credit for the icon, so neither do I. Maybe it's like a sixth sense he was just born with or something. And I love the strange universality of this concept - any time you see a naked man (movie, accidental RL encounter (not that there are many)), the first thing you think is DON'T LOOK AT HIS DICK. Or, if it's a woman, DON'T LOOK AT HER BREASTS/PUBIC AREA. A courtesy thing? Societal thing? Awkward thing? Idk.

My "religious discussion" icon. I'm Catholic, and not ashamed to say so. That said, I am also pretty laid-back and whatever about it, particularly on the Internet, where the commerce of ideas should be kept free for all. But sometimes I think I need to remind myself of what I stand for, and God is one of them. The comment is a lyric from a church hymn, one of my personal favorites. Church songs were the first songs I learned by heart, and singing in my church choir was what led me to discover my love of singing in general - this one, "I am the Bread of Life," was sung at my uncle's funeral when I was four (a formative event in my life), and one of the first songs I ever learned, ever. /oops, that got teal deery
